I am going to be featuring some Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 apps that have been developed by local developers. This week, the Windows 8 app is Xploding Boxes. It was created at a hackathon that was held at Rochester Institute of Technology. There were three top winners of the hackathon and this was one of those winners. It is addictive and pretty simple to play.
Xploding Boxes is a strategy game where the intent is to start a chain reaction that will explode all of the boxes on the screen. Each level gives you a different number of clicks, and requires a different strategy to solve.
Because the game unlocks five levels at a time, if you ever get stuck, you can usually just skip ahead to the next level. You can access the rest of the levels by using an in-application purchase, so that when gaining access to the full game you do not lose any progress that you have achieved so far.
